JYC take on Friends today
KATHMANDU: Samsung Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) will take on NIBL Friends Club in the inaugural day match of the British Gurkha Cup football tournament here at the Dasharath Stadium on Wednesday.
In all, 11 A Division clubs, three regional teams,
ANFA Under-16 team and PLA Sports Club will battle it out for the championship
organised by the All
Nepal Football Association. The Tribhuvan Army Club withdrew after the inclusion of the PLA Club.
The tournament is the biggest knockout event in terms of cash prizes with the winners taking home one million rupees. The runners up will get Rs 500,000 apart from Rs 100,000 each to the two losing semi-finalists.
Apart from the prize money, each team will also get 80 per cent of the revenue collected from tickets sell during the league stage.
The chief sponsor, British Gorkha Group, have provided two million rupees for the tournament. The best striker, midfielder, defender and goalkeeper will also earn
Rs 50,000 each, while the best best player of the
tournament will be awarded with a motorcycle.
