Kathmandu City lift trophy
Kathmandu, February 2:
Kathmandu City Club (KCC) defeated Sano Gaucharan Youth Club (SGYC) 3-1 to win the seventh Sano Gaucharan Knockout Football Tournament here on Saturday. Nirajan Rayamajhi scored twice and Tashi Tsering one goal for Kathmandu City while Dipak Bhusal scored for Sano Gaucharan.
Tsering headed KCC into the lead in the 21st minute following a corner from Sanjeev Gurung but Busal equalised from a powerful 25-yard shot in the 44th. Rayamajhi scored the second for KCC after trading passes with Anil Gurung in the 80th minute. Rajamajhi then sealed their
victory scoring his second goal following a pass from Biraj Maharjan in the 86th minute.
The winner received Rs 30,000 while the runner up got Rs 20,000. Other individual winners were Biraj Maharjan of KCC (best defender), Khum Gurung of SGYC (best midfielder), Anil Gurung of KCC (best forward), Ranjit Gurung of SGYC (best goalkeeper) and Sanjay Gurung of SYGC (best coach). Bhagwati Club of Tokha was honoured with fair play award.
