Yugal Kishor Rai scored a solitary goal to hand defending champions Kathmandu

Metropolitan City a 1-0 win over Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan City in the third Inter-municipality Football Tournament here at the Pokhara Stadium today.

Rai headed home the winner capitalising a long pass from Umesh Uprettiā€™s in the 25th minute to give Kathmandu the second consecutive Inter-municipality trophy. With the win Kathmandu also won a cheque of Rs 400,000 while runner up Lalitpur got Rs 200,000. Third-placed Madhyapur Thimi bagged Rs 100,000 and fourth-placed Biratnagar Sub-metropolitan City received Rs 50,000.

Pradeep Maharjan of Kathmandu was declared the best player of the tournament while Vishan Gauchan (Pokhara) won the best midfielder award. Likewise, Surendra Shrestha (Kathmandu), Nur Raj Kafle (Lalitpur) and Bharat Khawas (Madhyapur) claimed the best goalkeeper, best defender and best forward awards respectively. All five players received a purse of Rs 50,000 each.
