Khumaltar hold leaders NRT

Kathmandu, September 19

Khumaltar Youth Club held New Road Team to a 1-1 draw, while Ranipokhari Corner Team played a 2-2 stalemate with Samajik Youth Club in the Martyrs Memorial B Division League here at the Nepal APF Club grounds today.

After a goalless first half, NRT went ahead in the 77th minute when Sushil Lama scored the opening goal. At a time when the match was heading towards the final whistle, Rajendra Deula found the back of the nets in the second minute of the injury time following a pass from Thakur Shrestha.

Earlier, RCT also failed to register the much needed victory in their bid to return to the top flight. Shekhar Limbu put RCT ahead in the 15th minute before Samajik Youth Club’s top scorer Bhuwan Basnet levelled the scored in the 41st minute with his fifth goal of the tournament.

RCT took the lead for the second time in the match when Dipesh Thapa Magar scored the team’s second goal in the 68th minute but their joy short lived as Dinesh Rai scored the equalising goal for Samajik four minutes later.

After the completion of the eighth round matches, NRT are at the top of the standing with 18 points, while Shree Kumari Club are second with 17. Chyasal Youth Club are at the third position in superior goal difference after they are tied on 16 points with the second unbeaten team of the league, RCT. Pulchowk Sports Club and Satdobato Youth Club are fifth and sixth respectively on goal difference as they have 13 points each, while Divine Boys Union Club are seventh with 12.
