Killers lift Pro-40 c’ship
Kathmandu, January 26:
Shakti Gauchan struck an unbeaten half century to steer Kantipur Killers to a remarkable one-wicket victory over Yeti Airlines Yellers in the final of the Dabur Chayawanprash Pro-40 Cricket Tournament here today.
Yeti Airlines Yellers were all out for 124 in 35.2 overs with Raju Basnet scoring 51 from 54 balls and Monish Shrestha 23.
Sanjog Karn was the pick of the Killers’ bowlers with 4-42 off eight overs. Deepak Chhetri (2-18) and Raj Kumar Pradhan (2-24) claimed two wickets each and Gauchan took one (1-10).
In reply, the Killers chased the total in 31.1 overs with the loss of nine wickets. Man of the
match Gauchan scored unbeaten 57 from 56 balls while
Kundan Singh contributed 14 off 34 balls. Shovakant Pandey also chipped in 12 and Sanjay Shrestha 11 for the Killers.
Vijay Thapa was the most successful bowlers for the Yellers with 4-18 from eight overs. Raju Basnet (2-18) and Kalam Ali (2-24) also bagged two wickets apiece.
Birendra Shah of the Shangri-La Sharks was adjudged the best bowlers and Rajan Khadgi of VOITH Victors the best batsman. Gauchan of the Kantipur Killers also earned the man of the series award. Amir Akhtar of Shangri-La Sharks won the “best catch of the tournament” award.
