Kortze leads Namibia fight back

Kathmandu, March 24:

Nepali skipper Binod Das, Aamir Akhtar and Basanta Regmi took two wickets each, but Namibian captain Dion Kortze hit an unbeaten 90 runs to guide his team to 245/6 in the first innings of the ICC Inter-continental Cup playoff match.

The hosts, put into bat after Das won the toss at the Wanderers Stadium in Windhoek, played their full quota of 104 overs on the second day after the first day of the four-day match was washed out. Nepal will bat on Saturday.

Paceman Akhtar reduced Namibia to 56/2 at lunch, while spinner Regmi and fast bowler Das made further damage taking two wickets each as the hosts went to tea at 173/6.

Namibia added 69 runs without losing wicket in the final session. Nepal need an outright win to qualify as the eighth team in the non-Test playing countries tournament, while a draw is sufficient for Namibia.
