Kulung, Buda win half marathon titles

Solukhumbu, April 25

Suman Kulung and Sun Maya Buda won the titles of the Breathless Half Marathon, world's highest long distance race, here today.

In men's section, Kulung clocked three hours and 45.06 second to win the title. The 21.7km race started from Kalapathar at an altitude of 5,550 metres and ended at Syangboche (3870m).

Damodar Budha Magar took three hours, 32 minutes and 22.11 seconds to finish second and Hari Prasad Rimal came third in three hours, 56 minutes and 21.17 seconds.

In women's category, Buda took three hours, 58 minutes and 36 seconds to win the title, while Humi Budha Magar was second in five hours, six minutes and 52 seconds and Preeti Khatri came third in eight hours, four minutes and 46 seconds.

Top three athletes in both categories received $1,156, $500 and $300 respectively. A total of 16 players competed in the event organised by 14 Peak Expedition Pvt Ltd in memory of people who lost their lives in earthquake in 2015.
