Lalitpur beat Nuwakot

Kathmandu, March 31:

Ujwal Shrestha claimed four wickets to guide Lalitpur to a 22-run win over Nuwakot in the Wai Wai U-19 Region-3 (Kathmandu) Selection Cricket Tournament at the TU Stadium today.

Batting first, Lalitpur were bowled out for 162 runs in 34 overs and then packed Nuwakot for 140 runs in 33 overs. Udayan Shakya top-scored with 37-ball 43 runs including seven fours for Lalitpur. Jenish Maskey scored 25 while the major share of their runs came courtesy of heavy sundries — 52 extra runs.

Rom Shrestha, Dipendra Pariyar and Rajesh Shrestha took two wickets each for Nuwakot while Birat Man Singh Dangol and Raj Kumar Dangol bagged one wicket each.

In reply, Nuwakot had a poor start when they lost opener Deepak Chitrakar (5) at 11 on the board. Rajesh Shrestha (33) and Rom Shrestha (21) consolidated the innings with 71-run stand for the second wicket. Nuwakot failed to capitalise on the foundation laid by Rajesh and Rom and crumbled for 140 as only Umesh Lama (21) contributed significant runs thereafter.

Man of the match Ujwal took 4-32 in eight overs for Lalitpur, including the key wickets of Rajesh and Rom. Bibek Shakya snared two while skipper Nasim Akhtar and Mandip Man Singh Basnet shared one wicket each.
