Leicester beat Everton 3-1 before collecting EPL trophy

LEICESTER: Jamie Vardy scored twice as Leicester produced a swaggering 3-1 victory over Everton in its first match as English Premier League champion before collecting the trophy on Saturday.

The 5,000-1 preseason longshots produced the stylish, energetic display despite a week of celebrations since clinching the club's first top flight title without playing on Monday.

The only frustration will have been Vardy missing out on a hat trick when he fired over a second penalty. Vardy scored after only five minutes and then from the spot in the 65th minute to take his club-leading tally to 24 goals.

The scorer of the second goal was lifelong Leicester midfielder Andy King, who has won the third, second and now top-tier titles as the club has climbed through the divisions.
