Prime Cup
Kathmandu: Hosts Prime College inflicted a humiliating 42-2 defeat to Kathmandu Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) in the girls’ section match at the fifth Prime Cup Under-19 National Basketball Tournament here today.
KIST could not score a single point in the last three quarters after opening their account in the opening game. Gyanu Gauchan top-scored for the winning team with 21 points. Maya Syangten netted 14 points as Orient College beat National Campus 24 16 and Tashi Dendup guided White House to a 36-27 victory over National Campus in other girls’ section matches.
In boys’ section matches, Gyanodaya beat Classic College 52-22; Sunsari outplayed Chitwan 59-23; New Summit beat DAV 26-23 and Xavier International College defeated Orient College 60-42. — HNS
Junior Tennis
Lalitpur: Saloni Pandey and Sarita Adhikari advanced to the semi-finals of the sixth Jaykar Memorial Junior National Tennis Tournament. Saloni registered a hard-fought 7-5, 7-6 win over Samata Shakya while Sarita eased past Saloni Lama 6-3, 6-1 in the U-16 girls’ quarter-finals. Also entering to the last four were Sagun Thapa and Pabitra Gurung. Making it to the semi-finals in the U-12 girls’ section were Anuska Joshi, Rinchin, Aslesha Lisanovic and Ravina Gurung.
Sonam Punsuk, Anamol Gauchan, Milan Rokka, Sailendra Rathaur, Kishor Limbu, Niroj Wagle and Pranshiush entered the U014 boys’ quarter-finals.
Avay Gauchan, Ivano Lisanovic, Jayanta Rana advanced to the U-12 boys’ quarter-finals. — HNS
BBA Cup
LALITPUR: KNK College beat Nepal Commerce Campus (NCC) 2-1 in the final of the Inter-college BBA Running Shield Football Tournament here at Chyasal on Tuesday. Sagun Nayabi scored the opening goal for KNK in the 54th minute, while Bikash Shrestha levelled the scores three minutes later. Nayabi scored the winner in the 67th minute. In all, 15 teams took part in the tournament organised by the NCC. — HNS
