Kathmandu enter final

POKHARA: Kathmandu Metropolitan City blanked Biratnagar Sub-metropolitan City 4-0 in the semi-finals of the third Inter-municipality Football Tournament here on Thursday. Yugal Kishor Rai scored a brace and Subhash Rai and Kailash Dangol added one goal each. Kathmandu will face Lalitpur for championship on Saturday. Madhyapur Thimi Municipality and Biratnagar will play for the third-place decider on Friday. — HNS

Agitators clash with coaches

LALITPUR: The Republic Taekwondo Association (RTA) barred the Olympic Solidarity Course for the second straight day here on Thursday. The RTA had been demanding the Nepal Taekwondo Association to include their loyals for the course obstructing the week-long course that was scheduled to begin from Wednesday. Irritated by the obstruction, the coaches today chased down some of the agitators and beat them up. In all, 102 coaches and assistant coaches affiliated to the National Sports Council were chosen for the course. — HNS

Inter-school basketball

KATHMANDU: Forward Academy is organising the first Forward Inter-school Basketball Tournament from Friday. In total, 16 teams will vie for the championship in boy’s section while eight teams will fight for the girl’s title, said the organising school at a press meet here on Thursday. The tournament will be played under league-cum-knock format. — HNS
