Judo team departs

KATHMANDU: The two-member judo team left for Macau to appear in the exams of the International Judo Federation Continental Referee. Nepal Police coach Dhruba Raj Shrestha and Lalitpur District Sports Development Committee assistant coach Chandra Kumar Dangol will appear the exams to be held during the Pacific Championship slated for July 25-29. Surya Narayan Shrestha will join the two from Macau. — HNS

Pencak Silat seminar

KATHMANDU: Nepal Pencak Silat Association (NPSA) is organising the first International Pencak Silat Martial Arts Technical Seminar cum Training here on August 8-10. In all, 200 participants from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Singapore are expected to take part in the event, said NPSA. “The seminar will not only help players and officials but also provide a chance to develop Nepal as the headquarters of the sport,” said NPSA president Tikaram Mote Basai Jeevan. — HNS

Lalitpur NKF reformed

LALITPUR: A 15- member Lalitpur district Nepal Karate Federation was reformed on Tuesday. Indra Bajracharya was nominated the president of the committee while Manoj Nyachho, Bhuvan Lal Maharjan and Om Narayan Shrestha are the vice presidents. Others include Buddha Ratna Dangol (secretary), Daya Ram Maharjan (joint secretary), Shyam Maharjan (treasurer) and members Sagar Shrestha, Santa Kumar Tamang, Madan Maharjan, Raj Shrestha, Nanda Lal Shrestha and Nita Rai. — HNS
