Casino Tara lift trophy

KATHMANDU: Casino Tara won the Casino Royale Birthday Cup Inter-casino Women’s Football Tournament with a 1-0 win over Casino Everest at the Dasharath Stadium on Thursday. Anita Ghorasaini scored the winner and was also adjudged the player of the tournament. Sharada Upreti of Everest was named the player of the final. Casino Royale defeated Casino Nepal 3-0 in the third-place decider. Bimala Pokhrel, Tara Lama and Tej Kumari scored a goal apiece for Royale. Top three teams received Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Bobby Subba of Casino Royale finished as the top scorer with eight goals. In all, eight teams took part in the event. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Damak Municipality

KATHMANDU: Amrit Science College (ASCOL) entered the quarter-finals of the third Valleywide Inter-campus Professors Volleyball Tournament here on Thursday. Karate tournament

KATHMANDU: National Dojo is organising the second Bagmati Zonal Karate and Kickboxing Championship here from July 17-18. The men’s section event features 12 gold medals — 11 weight categories in kumite and an individual kata — while women’s will fight it out for nine titles — eight in kumite and an individual kata. Five gold medals are up for grabs in the men’s kickboxing along with three in women’s section. — HNS
