Keshari sets national record

KATHMANDU: Keshari Chaudhary of Mid-western Development Region set a new girls’ triple jump national record during the School-level National Athletics Tournament organised by the National Sports Council here from Wednesday. Chaudhary jumped 10 meters and 22 cm to set the record. Ratan Lal Chaudhary won the boys’ triple jump covering the distance of 12.66 meters. Other winners include Binda Shrestha (girls’ 1,500m), Umesh Shrestha (boys’ 1,500m), Sita Shahi (girls’ shotput), Arjun Nath Yogi (boys’ shotput), Binu Budha Magar (girls’ 100m) and Baliram Chaudhary (boys’ 100m). — HNS

HIMS Inter-school basketball

KATHMANDU: Himalayan International Model School (HIMS) is organising the third HIMS Inter-school Boys’ Basketball Tournament here on June 7-17. In all 16 schools of Kathmandu Valley with vie for the championship, said the organisers at a press meet on Wednesday. Participating schools include HIMS, Baba Boarding, Paragon, Unique, TIA, Sambotta, Shuvatara (Sanepa), Greenland, Shuvatara International, RIBS, Wilson, Valley Public, Namgyal, Shridiwa and St Xavier’s. — HNS

PYC, White House triumph

KATHMANDU: Rajan Maharjan netted 21 points as K&K defeated the hosts Godavari Alumni Association 73-53 in the fourth Fr Watrin Basketball Championship on Wednesday. Public Youth Campus (PYC) recorded a comprehensive 89-44 win over Wilson Club and Himalayan White House beat Lincoln 66-47 with Robindra Maskey contributing 29 points for the winners while Kathmandudes overcame LRI 80-47. — HNS
