Surya Nepal Masters

Kathmandu: Surya Nepal Masters, the biggest golfing event of Nepal, has been scheduled for March 28-31 at the Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort & Spa, the organisers Nepal Golf Association and Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd announced here on Wednesday. Around 90 professionals and top 10 amateurs golfers will compete in Rs two million tournament. The standard Chartered Pro-Am will be played on March 27. Nepal Tourism Board and Standard Chartered Bank are the event partners. — HNS

Prime, KEC enter final

Kathmandu: Kathmandu Engineering College (KEC) and Prime College advanced to the final of the first Benoj Memorial Inter-college (+2) Basketball Tournament here at the Dasharath Stadium covered hall on Wednesday. KEC beat K&K 54-41 while Prime edged past KIST 61-41 in the semi-finals. KEC trailed 8-11 in the first quarters before bouncing back in the next three quarters to secure the berth for the final. KEC scored 18, 15 and 13 while conceding K&K to 7, 13 and 8 in the next three quarters. Samir Gurung top scored for K&K with 23 points while Sumit Gurung contributed 16 for KEC. In another semi-final, Prime netted 13 against the eight points of KIST in the first quarter and extended their lead scoring 14 in the second. Prime scored 22 to that of two points of KIST in the third. KIST netted 22 against 14 of Prime in the final quarter but that wasn’t enough for them. Bikram of Prime College and Rajiv Shakya scored equal 19 points. — HNS
