Yangal triumph

KATHMANDU: Yangal Cricket Club (YCC) beat Baluwatar Cricket Club (BCC) by five wickets in the opening match of the Region No 3 U-19 Qualifying Tournament. Batting first, BCC were all out for 89 runs in 23.4 overs. Skipper Gyanendra Malla and Daya Bajrachary took three wickets each for Yangal. YCC chased the total losing five wickets in 28th over. In all seven teams are taking part in the event. Selected players will get an opportunity to represent Region No 3 for the national tournament. — HNS

White House win

LALITPUR: Himalayan White House International College defeated Kathmandudes 54-38 in the final of the first Narayan Man Memorial Open Basketball Tournament, organised by Bishalnagar Youth Club in association with Gyan Club, here on Saturday. Bipendra Maharjan of White House top-scored with 14 points and was also declared the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. White House received Rs 20,000 and Kathmandudes got Rs 10,000. Mahendra Man Shakya, general secretary of Nepal Basketball Association, gave away prizes. — HNS

Tara beat Anna

LALITPUR: Casino Tara beat Casino Anna 1-0 in the final of the Casino Tara Running Trophy Inter-casino Football Tournament, organised jointly by Casino Tara and Main Unit Committee of All Nepal Hotel and Restaurant Association (ANHRA), at ANFA Technical Centre in Chyasal on Saturday. Surendra Napit scored the solitary goal. In the third-place play-off, Sanjay Shrestha struck twice and Bikash Bajracharya netted one as Nepal Recreation Centre (NRC) defeated Casino Royale 3-0. Sajan Basnet of Casino Tara was named the man of the series. NRC Chairman RD Tuttle and national president of ANHRA Saligram Jammer Kattel gave away prizes to the winners. — HNS
