SNB Memorial Cricket

LALITPUR: Adarsha Vidya Mandir (AVM) Higher Seconday School is organising the third Shree SNB Memorial Inter-school Cricket Tournament, in memory of the school’s founder Satya Narayan Bahadur Shrestha from December 14. In all, 16 teams — Nightingale, Galaxy, LRI, St Xavier’s (Godavari), Little Angels’, Holy Vision, DAV, GCA, Budhanilkantha, Rajan Memorial, Loyala, Deep Jyoti, Gyanodaya, Kathmandu Xavier Public, Brihaspati and hosts AVM — are taking part in the knock-out tournament, said the organisers. — HNS

Sixth AJS Volleyball Cup

LALITPUR: Anal Jyoti School (AJS) ‘A’ and Bhim Secondary School entered the boys’ final at the sixth AJS Running Volleyball Cup on Friday. In the semi-finals, AJS beat Deep Jyoti 25-16, 25-23, 25-19, while Bhim School defeated GEMS 25-16, 25-15, 13-25, 25-15. In girls’ section, Deep Jyoti and AJS made it to the final. In the mini boys final, Madan Smarak will take on AJS after Deep Jyoti, who beat AJS in the semi-final, was disqualified. The finals are slated for Saturday. — HNS

Second Unique Basketball

KATHMANDU: Jagat Mandir and Sridiwa entered the final of the second Unique Inter-school Valleywide Junior Basketball Tournament. Janam Adhikari netted 17 points as Jagat Mandir beat Valley Public 35-17 and Sridiwa edged past Wilson Academy 31-29 riding on Krishna’s 25 points. The final will be held on Saturday. — HNS

CCRC thrash Universal

Bhaktapur: CCRC thrashed Universal by eight wickets and entered the final of the FW Taylor Inter-college Cricket Tournament. Batting first, Universal were bowled out for 57 runs in 21.5 overs. Opener Raj Timilsina was the lone batsman to reach the double figure mark with 13 runs. For CCRC, man of the match Sudeep Sharma took 3-8 and was ably supported by Sanjam Regmi (2-8) and Raj Shrestha (2-6). In reply, CCRC overcame the target losing two wickets in 8.3 overs. Opener Pawan Das remained unbeaten on 14, while the other opener Pramod Basnet hit three fours in his 5-ball 12. Utsav Raj Shrestha scored 19. In Sunday’s final at the TU Stadium, CCRC will face FW Taylor. — HNS
