Gold for Khan

KATHMANDU: Khursheed Ahmed Khan of Nepal won a gold medal at the 14th Asian Masters Championship in Bangalore. Khan won the first place with a throw of 58.50m in javelin throw. Middle distance runner Ram Krishna Maharjan won a bronze medal in 5,000m in the championship, in which athletes from 17 Asian countries are taking part. — HNS

NCM triumph

KATHMANDU: Nepal College of Management (NCM) beat Little Angels’ College of Management (LACM) by two wickets in the LACM Tri-series Cricket Tournament. Batting first, LACM scored 153/8 in the allotted 25 overs. Binay Maharjan quickfired 77 off 45 balls. Prasanna Shakya took four wickets conceding 22 runs off five overs for NCM. In reply, NCM chased the total losing eight wickets in 23.2 overs. Prasanna Shakya scored explosive 55 off 29 deliveries while Avishek Singh contributed 23 runs. Ashesh Adhikari completed a five wicket haul for LACM. Prasanna and Ashesh were jointly awarded the man of the match award. Kathmandu College of Management will take on NCM on Saturday. — HNS

Kumar, Priti win

KATHMANDU: Kumar Adhikari and Priti Rijal entered the quarter-finals of the Asian College Tennis Championship held in Gonjau, China on Thursday. Adhikari defeated Yosuke Seko of Japan 8-0 and TD Gunaratne, also with the same margin, for the quarter-final berth. Rijal needed just one win against Chepuiman of Macau (8-2) to qualify for the last eight. According to the All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association, a total of 120 players from 19 countries are participating in the tournament. — HNS
