Players feted :

KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force today promoted four of its players who won medals at

the 10th South Asian Games held in Colombo from August 18-28.

The four medallists — boxers Sushil Ghimire (silver) and Purna Bahadur Lama (bronze) and footballers Man Sajan Rajbhandari and Samit Rajbhandari, who were the members of the football team that won bronze medal — were promoted to Head Constables, said APF in a release.

IGP Basudev Oli presented the insignia and Rs 20,000 to Ghimire, and Rs 10,000 each to the bronze medallists. He also gave away Rs 5,000 each to the other SAG participants. — HNS

Baba basketball :

KATHMANDU: Ideal Model School defeated Prithivi School 37-22 in the inaugural match of

the senior boys’ category at the fifth Baba Inter-school Basketball Tournament today.

Hosts Baba Boarding beat The Excelsior 55-30, LRI edged past Unique Academy 27-25, and GEMS registered an easy 39-19 win over Reliance Academy in other senior boys’ matches.

In the junior boys section, Jagat Mandir defeated Swarnim Sikshya Sadan 23-14 while The Excelsior beat Baba 26-16. Earlier, principal of Baba Boarding High School Binita Pradhan inaugurated the tournament. — HNS
