Ratna Shield

LALITPUR:

Tri-Padma School, Blue Moon and Amar Boarding School registered wins in the day’s matches at the Ratna Shield Inter-school Football Tournament, which has been organised by All Nepal Football Association to mark the 78th birthday of Queen Mother Ratna.

Rajesh Thapa scored four goals as Tri-Padma thrashed Science Laboratory Higher Secondary School 6-1. Saroj Maharjan and Rajendra Thapa scored one goal each for Tri-Padma while Chandan Gurung and netted the consolation goal for Science Laboratory. In the other match, Blue Moon outplayed Birat School 4-1. Krishna Gopal Shrestha struck twice and Raj Kumar Ghising and Sunu Lama scored one each for Blue Moon. Sudan Sharma scored for Birat. In the last match, Amar Boarding School defeated Bhanubhakta School 2-0 in tie-breaker. — HNS

Gyanodaya Bal Batika defeated Prithvi School 25-2 in the third Milan Inter-school Girls’ Basketball Tournament, which has been organised by Milan Vidya Mandir to mark the 78th birthday of Queen Mother Ratna and 41st Children’s Day. Manisha Serchan netted seven points for the winners. In other matches, New Buddha School beat Unique School 25-9 riding on Melina Lama’s 11 points; and TIA outplayed Triyog School 16-7 in which Anu Thapa of TIA netted eight points. — HNS

KATHMANDU:

Sarita Magar defeated Renuka Khatri in the junior girls’ final of the Valleywide Inter-school Table Tennis Tournament organised by Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation, Nepal to mark the 78th birthday of Queen Mother Ratna and 41st Children’s Day. Manita Maharjan and Shradha Bastakoti finished joint third. In senior girls’ section, Nanita Shrestha won the title beating Shweta Dongol, while Anu Raut and Pratima Karki came joint third. Pradip Roka and Bikash Puri grabbed the top two spots in the junior boys’ singles section, while Naresh Maharjan won the senior boys’ title beating Suman Poudel in the final. — HNS
