Shuttler Sumina to go to China

KATHMANDU: National shuttler Sumina Shrestha is going to China to take part at the badminton training to be organised by International Badminton Association from June 20-August 22. Care taker member secretary of NSC Kishor Bahadur Singh bade farewell to the player.

Whitefield win

KATHMANDU: Deep Nara-yan Singh netted 20 points as hosts Whitefied School defeated Nawa Jyoti School 62-29 in the Open Basketball Tournament for SLC-appeared students. In other matches, Gyanodaya School beat Kanchanjungha School 57-22 and Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya beat Shrine Academy 29-18.

Rekle advances

KATHMANDU: Neem Bahadur Rekle of MPC defeated Deepak Chhunga of Spring Boxing Club in 54-kg section at the the Valleywide Open Boxing Tounament, which has been organised by Kathmandu Boxing Association in memory of former boxers Pushkar Dhoj Shahi, Dal Bahadur Rana Magar and Nar Bahadur Yonzon. Also, Gopal Shrestha of Kamal Pokhari Club beat Rakesh Awal.

Weight Lifting

KATHMANDU: Nepal Wei-ght Lifting Association and West Wing School are jointly organising the 17th men’s and second women’s Weight Lifting Competition in Lubhoo, Lalitpur on June 18 and 19. In all, 122 athletes — 35 women and 87 men are taking part in the event. — HNS
