Golden Gate win
KATHMANDU: Golden Gate recorded double wins at the first Bern Hardt Inter-college Boys Basketball Tournament on Sunday. Golden Gate ‘A’ edged White House 36-23 riding on Bikram Dangol’s 16 points while Bika Nawaraj netted 22 points to give their ‘B’ team a 43-33 win over VS Niketan. Also, Prime College beat Little Angels 57-38 with 16 points from Bikash Gurung and ACE outplayed Bern Hardt 44-13 with Ashutosh Pandey netting 13 points. Sagar Thapa scored 16 to help Xavier International beat National Campus 44-31. — HNS
Ramailo badminton
LALITPUR: Prakash Karki and Avimanyu KC made it to the quarter-finals of the third Ramailo Doubles Badminton Tournament here on Sunday. They beat Suresh Basnet and Phinju Nath Nepali 35-6. Joining them in the last eight were Manhohan KC and Ranjit Ghatani, Khadga Prasad Thapa and Sunil Shrestha, Kapil Shahi and Parasar Jung Pandey, and Milan KC and Ramesh Thapa. Manmohan and Ranjit beat Prakash Rana and Bipin Rai 35-26, Khadga and Sunil saw off John Purimitla
and Dipu Rai 35-27, Kapil and Parasar dispatched Bikram Khadka and Pradeep KC 35-17, and Milan and Ramesh overcame Bharat Karki and Jajju Nath Khadka 35-27. — HNS
Inter-college karate
KATHMANDU: Free Students
Union of Ratna Rajya Campus is organising the first Nationwide Inter-college Karate Tournament here
from Monday. In all, 200 karatekas from 40 colleges will fight for the championships in 14 different categories, informed the organisers here on Sunday. The three-day tournament will be held at the Tribhuvan University Memorial Hall. — HNS
Motorcycle rally
KATHMANDU: Nepal Automobile Sports Association (NASA) is organising Kathmandu-Jiri motorcycle
rally on September 13. The rally starts from the Dasharath Stadium en
route to Dhulikhel, Charikot before ending in Jiri, said the organisers here at a press meet on Sunday. In all, 50 bikes accompanied by a pillion
rider will compete in the rally. The winners will be decided on the basis of time, distance and speed they travel with. The winners will receive Rs 15,000 while the first and second runners up will get Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. The estimated cost of the event is Rs 400,000. — HNS
