Greenland enter final

KATHMANDU: Hosts Greenland and Deep Jyoti set championship date in the fourth Kwik's Greenland Inter-school Basketball Tournament here on Thursday. Greenland beat Valley Public 24-11 and Deep Jyoti saw off Prithvi School 16-7 in the junior boys' section semi-finals. Trungram

Araniko, LRI in final

KATHMANDU: Araniko and Learning Realm International (LRI) advanced to the final of the eighth Kirtipur Inter-school Boys Basketball Tournament here on Thursday. Araniko got the better of Panga School 58038 riding on 18 points from Bijay Bhusal. In the

other semi-final match, LRI laboured to a 66-54 win over Rara Hill.

Deep Simkhada contributed 24

points for LRI. The final is scheduled for Saturday. — HNS

Player Beijing bound

KATHMANDU: A two-member Nepal International Taekwondo Federation (NITF) team is leaving for Beijing on Friday to participate in the International Taekwondo (ITF) Tournament. Ishwor Thapa Magar will compete in the men's 68kg spiring event. Thapa Magar will be accompanied by manager Ishwor Man Gurung, said the NITF here on Thursday. The tournament is scheduled for August 23. — HNS

Monsoon Meet

KATHMANDU: Sambotta and Learning Realm International (LRI) entered the senior boys' quarter-finals in the fifth Monsoon Meet Basketball Tournament on Thursday. Sambotta defeated Pennwood 71-60 but despite the loss the latter also advanced to the last eight from Group 'C'. LRI dispatched Excelsior 66-43 to join HIMS, Shuvatara, Ulliens and hosts Sridiwa in the quarter-finals. HIMS overcame Chandbagh 44-33, Shuvatara sneaked past Wilson 49-42, Ulliens beat Young Heart 47-35 and Sridiwa eased past EPS 35-18. — HNS
