Singapore lose
KATHMANDU: The Singapore team went heavily against the CAN XI team in their practice match ahead of the ACC Under-17 Elite Cup here on Monday. Batting first, CAN scored 239-7
in 40 overs and packed Singapore for a paltry 94 runs in 28.1 overs to register a 145-run victory. Man of the match Rom Shrestha scored an unbeaten 89 runs, while Subash Khakurel made 56 for the home team.
Abhiraj Rajdeep Singh took 3-32 and Mohit Kulkarni claimed 2-26 for Singapore, who got the highest contribution of 42 runs from Rezaz Navi. — HNS
Golfers depart
Kathmandu: A team of five golfers today left for Bangladesh to take part in the 24th Bangladesh Amateur Open Golf Championship to be held in Dhaka from February 4-7. Top amateur Tashi Ghale, Rupak Acharya, Dhana Bahadur Thapa and Gautam Sayami will
form Nepal’s two teams at the tournament. The four golfers will also play in individual and team sections while Prasanna Upreti will participate only in individual section. — HNS
RIBS in semis
KATHMANDU: RIBS entered the semi-finals of the Loyalty Cup third Valleywide Inter-school Junior Football Tournament with a 7-6 win over National United. The match
was decided on penalties after a 5-5 draw. In the other match, Children Heaven thrashed Bright Future 7-2. — HNS
Gyan Niketan win
KATHMANDU: Gyan Niketan made the winning start at the eighth Gyan Niketan Inter-school Basketball Tournament. The hosts beat Swapna Vatika 37-23 in junior boys’ section. In senior boys’ matches, Reliance defeated the hosts 48-42; Trungram overwhelmed Gyan Kunja 53-26; Unique beat Teresa 72-60; and New Shrine outplayed Nirmal 51-35. Swapna Vatika, TIA and Teresa won their senior girls’ section matches. — HNS
Weeka Talentia
KATHMANDU: Prime Sports Club defeated White House 41-37 in the girls’ section basketball match at the Don Bosco Weeka Talentia. Also, Xavier International defeated Don Bosco 20-9. In men’s section, Xavier beat Don Bosco 60-49. — HNS
Valleywide futsal
BHAKTAPUR: Basu HS School and SS College won the inaugural day matches at the Valleywide Inter-college Futsal Tournament organised by Bhaktapur Young Circle to mark its silver jubilee. Basu School defeated Khwopa College 6-3, while SS College thrashed Prabhat School 13-0. In all, 16 colleges are taking part in the event. — HNS
