CCRC triumph

Kathmandu: Kathmandu Academy beat British School by eight wickets and Capital College and Research Centre (CCRC) overcame Everest International College by 53 runs in the second Aaditya Memorial Inter-college Twenty20 Cricket Tournament on Wednesday. British School scored 87-4 before Kathmandu Academy surpassed the total in 8.3 overs. In another match CCRC accumulated 164-6 in 18 overs and restricted Everest for 111-8. — HNS

Shangri-La’s cricket tour

KATHMANDU: Shangri-La Cricket Academy is leaving for a 10-day tour to New Delhi on Thursday. A 16-member academy team, skippered by Aamir Akhtar, will play matches against Railway and St Andrews College as well as other club and school teams like Apeejay School, Delhi Public School, Jamia Millia and Roshanara Club. “Shangri-La team includes national players Mehboob Alam, Akash Gupta, Dipendra Chaudhary and Sudip Sharma along with junior academy players,” said the proprietor of the academy Akhtar. — HNS

LALITPUR: Trinity International College defeated Pinnacle College 69-28 and Unique College edged past Brihaspati Vidhya Sadan 55-53 in the second CPS Cup Inter-college Boys Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. In other matches, Prime College Prime crushed Campion 67-27 and Grand Academy overcame Bright Vision College 31-25. — HNS

LALITPUR: Akash Magar scored a hat-trick as Dolphin eased to a 3-1 win over IJ Pioneer in the 13th Fr Moran Memorial Inter-school Football Tournament on Wednesday. In other matches, NAPF thrashed Machhapuchhre 6-0 and LRI defeated hosts St Xavier’s (Godavari) 6-0. — HNS

Young Heart in semis

KATHMANDU: Young Heart and Unique advanced to the Junior Boys’ section semi-finals of the fourth Unique Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. Young Hearts beat New Shrine 46-29 and Unique saw off Elite Co-Ed 37-24. NOBS and Daffodils also advanced to the last four with victories over Sri Diwa and Reliance respectively. Making it to the girls’ section semi-finals were NIMS, NOBS, Suryodaya and Kantipur. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Hosts Golden Peak ‘A’ edged past Gyan Jyoti 28-22 and Arunodaya beat TIA 29-19 in the Junior Boys’ matches of second Golden Peak Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. Also, Ideal School saw off Golden Peak ‘B’ 48-25 and Gillete beat Valley Public 31-26. In Senior Girls’ section, TIA defeated Golden Peak 28. — HNS

Jyoti Academy win

KATHMANDU: Dilli Sunwar scored five goals as Jyoti Academy hammered Alpine School 23-7 in the second National Open Boys Handball Tournament here on Wednesday. In another match, Reliance defeated Manakamana School 15-7 with Uday Bogati and Nima Sherpa netting six goals each for the winners. Jyoti Namuna School got a walkover win from Surya Sai School. A total of 12 teams are taking part in the tournament organised by Sadabahar Sports Society. — HNS
