Nitin triumph

KATHMANDU: Nitin Memorial, Snow Leopard and Valley Public won the inaugural-day matches at the FedEx fourth Fr Watrin Women’s Basketball Tournament, organised by Godavari Alumni Association, here on Sunday. Nitin Memorial thrashed Ace Flyers 66-16, riding on Bina Nakarmi’s 25 points. Snow Leopard defeated Rato Bangala 47-45 and Valley Public overcame Golden Gate 35-30. — HNS

C Div League

LALITPUR: Chyasal Youth Club defeated Sri Kumari Youth Club 3-1 in the C Division League Football here at the ANFA Technical Centre here on Sunday. Robin Byanjankar struck twice and Bhola Byanjankar scored the other for Chyasal. Tanku Lama pulled one back for Kumari. In other two matches, Satdobato Youth Club were held to a 2-2 draw by Samajik Youth Club while Cannon Club and Naxal Yuva Mandal played a 1-1 draw. — HNS

Kritesh wins

KATHMANDU: Kritesh Chaudhary of Adarsha Vidhya Mandir won the U-12 boys’ championship of the third Hareram Joshi Memorial Table Tennis Tournament here on Sunday. Chaudhary beat Anmol Khadka of Suryodaya Boarding School 11-6, 7-11, 11-8, 11-5. On Saturday, Sujita Rai of AIMS claimed the U-12 girls’ title and Akash Pradhan won the U-14 boys’ championship. President of Hareram Joshi Memorial Table Tennis Tournament organising committee Jivan Ram Joshi gave away the prizes. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Little Angels’ School sneaked past Penwood Academy 40-38 in the senior boys’ section match at the Monsoon Meet 2008 Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Sunday. In junior boys’ section, Daffodil beat hosts Shridiwa International School 20-16, Gyanodaya thumped Galaxy 51-16 and Young Hearts saw off Brihaspati Vidhya Sadan 21-5. Likewise, Shuvatara overcame Daffodil 26-12 in the girls’ section. — HNS

Cricket training

KATHMANDU: Nepali coach Junga Bahadur Thapa Magar and national cricketer Raju Basnyat left for Kuala Lumpur on Sunday to participate in the ACC Level-II Coaching Course. Nepal’s Sri Lankan coach Roy Luke Dias, who is in Sri Lanka, will also join the team, said Cricket Association of Nepal in a release on Sunday. The Asian Cricket Council nominated the three persons for the course slated for August 25-30, said CAN. — HNS
