Certificates handed over

KATHMANDU: Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) distributed the certificates to the 10th South Asian Games medallists after two years, on Saturday. Nepal had claimed nine gold, 15 silver and 31 bronze medals during the August 18-28 Games in Colombo in 2006. Two gold medals that Rajendra Bhandari won in 1,500m and 5,000m steeplechase were taken back after the athlete was caught in doping.— HNS

Golden Gate win

KATHMANDU: Golden Gate ‘A’ won the men’s and Snow Leopard claimed the women’s title of the Fr Donnelly 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. Golden Gate ‘A’ beat Golden Gate ‘B’ 21-15, 21-13, 21-7 while Snow Leopard overcame Rato Bangala 21-17, 21-2. Sushil Gurung of Golden Gate ‘B’ and Lamo Rinchin of Snow Leopard were declared the MVPs. The men’s and women’s champions received Rs 15,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively. — HNS

Sherpa wins

KATHMANDU: Ang Tsering Sherpa won the Gokarna Club monthly medal here on on Saturday. Played under stableford ¾ handicap format, Sherpa finished top with 37 points. Manohar Das Mool came second with 33 points. President of Nepal Professional Golf Association Rabindra Man Shrestha gave away the prizes. — HNS

C Div qualifier

KATHMANDU: Charumati Youth Club, Gwarko Football Club and Khalibari Football Club advanced to the Group C semi-finals of the C Division League qualifying tournament. Charumati edged out Chandeswori Club 2-1, Gwarko thrashed Blood Sucker Youth Sports Club 5-1 and Khalibari hammered Nawa Amar Kanteswor Yuva Sumuha 6-2. — HNS
