LALITPUR: South Lalitpur United Club ‘A’ and Lubhoo Village Development Committee entered the final of the Lalitpur District Open Men’s Volleyball Tournament. South Lalitpur United Club ‘A’ defeated their own team ‘B’ 25-21, 25-22, 25-19 while Lubhoo overcame Basanta Youth Club 27-25, 25-21, 25-22. The final is slated for Monday. — HNS

NVA nominate 11

KATHMANDU: Two vice-presidents - Dan Bahadur Tamang and Upendra Kumar Yadav - and nine members have been nomiated in the central executive committee of the Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) here on Sunday. Vice-presidents and seven members were nominated by NVA while two were nominated by the National Sports Council.

Among the NVA nominated members are Piyush Shrestha, Tej Pratap Subba, Leknath Parajuli, Ram Bhandari, Kishor Pandey, Gyanendra Yadav a nd Tanka Singh Thakuri. NSC nominated members are Manoranjan Sharma and Salikram Khadka. The number of NVA executive committee now reaches 28 after the nomiation. One vice-president and two members are yet to be included in the NVA. — HNS

Budokaido Karate

KATHMANDU: Shailesh Maharjan won the men’s open weight category in the fifth Manmohan Memorial Valleywide Budokaido Tournament,organised by Kisipidi Budokaido on Saturday. Ranjit Chaudhary was adjudged the best player in the men’s section at the two-day event.

Other men’s section winners include Roshan Maharjan (50kg), Sajan Maharjan (40kg), Sajiv Maharjan (30kg) and Roshan Bista (25kg). Likewise, Shanti Ghalan claimed the women’s open weight category while Kopila Lama earned the best female player award. In all, 160 players took part in the tournament. — HNS
