Dong wins golf title

KATHMANDU: Tashi Dong accumulated 37 points to win the KEGG Cup Golf Tournament here at the Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa. Dong scored 23 in the front and 14 in the back nine. Ashoke Rana came second with 35 points, while Deepak Rajbhandary finished third with 34 points. Rana also won the closest to the pin award, while Tashi Tsering bagged the longest drive award. In all, 27 golfers, including Crown Prince Paras, took part in the tournament organised by Kathmandu Eager Golfers’ Group. — HNS

Deep Jyoti triumph

LALITPUR: Deep Jyoti Boarding School defeated Brihaspati Vidhya Sadan by six wickets in the fourth SNB Memorial Inter-school Cricket Tournament. Opting to bat first, Brihaspati scored 74-9 in 20 overs with Shirshak Bahadur Adhikari, Sushant Dutta Pandey and Kushal Sharma chipping in 11 runs each. Bibek Khadka and Prabin Shrestha took two wickets each for Deep Jyoti. Man of the match Bibek Khadka scored unbeaten 20 as Deep Jyoti chased the total losing four wickets in 17.1 overs. — HNS

Deepak injured

LALITPUR: Karateka Deepak Bista was injured in a motorcycle accident here at Sinchahiti on Saturday. He met an accident while going home along with his wife and daughter. Shrestha is expected to undergo an calf operation on Sunday. Shrestha was scheduled to go to France to play in the World Championship qualifying next week. — HNS

LALITPUR: LRI registered a 45-22 win over Galaxy in the boys’ basketball at the 14th Eicher Gyan Carnival. In other matches, Alfaz edged past Shree Diwa 61-57 and IMS outscored HIMS 53-29. TIA, Unique in final

KATHMANDU: TIA and Unique entered the boys’ final of the first Suryodaya Valleywide Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Saturday. TIA eased past Jagat Mandir 16-8 with Nishant contributing six points for the winners, while Unique registered a 18-17 win over Greenland. Valley Public joined Suryodaya in the girls’ final with a 27-10 win over Gyan Niketan. — HNS

Anal Jyoti lift trophy

KATHMANDU: Hosts Anal Jyoti School claimed the Mini Boys’ title for the fourth year in a row after defeating Puspa Kunja 26-24, 25-19, 25-23 at the seventh Anal Jyoti Cup Volleyball Tournament on Saturday. Venus School clinched the Senior Boys’ championship with a 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-18 win over the defending champions SEB School. Madan Smarak beat Anal Jyoti 25-12, 25-8, 25-11 to lift the Girls’ section trophy. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Unique School defeated Galaxy Public School 56-24 in the inaugural match of the third Unique Valleywide Inter-school Junior Boys Basketball Tournament on Saturday. Sonam Sherpa scored the match-winning 26 points. In all, 12 teams are participating in the tournament to be played under league-cum-knockout format. — HNS

KATHMANDU: The Free Student Union of Nepal Commerce Campus is organising the Inter-college BBA Cup Running Shield Football Tournament at FIFA Technical Centre at Chyasal from Sunday. In all, 15 teams are taking part in the knock-out tournament, said the organisers at press meet today. — HNS
