SEB, Newton win

KATHMANDU: Hosts Samakhushi English Boarding (SEB) School ‘A’ and Newton made winning start in the fifth SEB Inter-school Volleyball Tournament here on Friday. SEB defeated Shree Kamana 25-10, 27-29, 25-7 and Newton dispatched SEB ‘C’ 25-16, 25-15. Likewise, Venus edged past SEB ‘B’ 25-12, 18-25, 25-20 before seeing off Angels Heart 25-19, 24-26, 25-16. Deep Jyoti ‘B’ eased past SEB ‘C’ 25-21, 25-10, Nightingale defeated Deep Jyoti ‘a’ 25-20, 25-14 and SEB ‘B’ overcame Angel Heart 25-21, 18-25, 25-17. In the girls’ section, SEB ‘A’ beat Venus 25-15, 25-13 and New Diamond got the better of Angel Heart 25-21, 25-8.

TIA enter final

KATHMANDU: Valley Public and hosts Trungram International Academy (TIA) both advanced to the finals of seventh TIA Cup Basketball Tournament. In the girls’ section, Valley Public ‘A’ beat Prithvi School 43-18 riding on 20 points from Laxmi Shrestha and Anusha Malla netted 11 as TIA ‘A’ saw off Mahendra Bhawan 22-11. In the boys’ section, Valley Public laboured to a 54-49 win over Golden Peak with Biraj Rana contributing 21 points for the winners. The other semi-final saw TIA ‘A’ beat LRI 42-40 riding on 19 points from Santosh Shrestha.

Mt Olive in final

KATHMANDU: Mt Olive School made it to the boys’ section final of the sixth Namuna Running Shield Volleyball Tournament here on Friday. Mt Olive edged past hosts

Namuna English Secondary School ‘A’ 18-25, 25-23, 15-25, 25-20, 15-12.

Entering the teachers’ final were Namuna and Heritage. Namuna defeated Vidhyapunja 25-13, 25-15 and Heritage beat Mt Olive 25-15, 25-20.

Pritima in quarters

BHAKTAPUR: Pritima defeated Leeds 2-0 to enter the quarter-final of the fourth FECA Cup Inter-school Football Tournament on Friday.

Man of the match Suraj Shrestha and Milan Rai scored for Pritima.

Earlier, Nepal Olympic Committee President Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan inaugurated the event participated in by 15 teams. Fair Education Competitors Association (FECA) is the organisers of the event.
