MCC off to UAE for friendly games

Kathmandu, November 17

A 12-member team of Machhapuchhre Cricket Club of Pokhara on Friday left for the United Arab Emirates to play two Twenty20 matches.

MCC will play against Darjeeling Cricket Club at the ICC Cricket Academy Ground on Saturday and face Young Talents Cricket Academy at the Eden Gardens Ajmal Cricket Ground the following day, informed MCC skipper Dipesh Khatri at a farewell programme today.

“We want young people to play cricket and the tour will inspire their guardians to let their children find career through sports,” said Khatri, who also informed that the club was also planning to tour the Netherlands next year. Khatri said the team jersey was sponsored by Tip Top, while Quest Travels supported for their travel. “The team members will have to bear the accommodation cost in the UAE,” said Khatri, the former national team member.

Other members of the team are Rabin Joshi (Vice-captain), Sunil Gagar, Suman Chaulagain, Suman Uday, Kabin Sapkota, Prakash Chand Thakuri, Pritam Duwal Shrestha, Aditya Malla, Nabin Karki, Kiran Budhathoki and Binay Bikram Thapa. Thapa will play the role of manager too. The team is scheduled to return on November 22.
