KATHMANDU: Maj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi took the lead after the first day of the Warstneiner Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Friday.

Played under stableford ¾ handicap format, the four-handicapper accumulated 40 points to stay at the top of the leaderboard on countback after being tied with Sailesh Shanghai. Rayamajhi earned 19 points on the back nine, while the 14-handicap amateur golfer Shanghai scored 18. Sanyog Shahi was third with 37 points.

A total of 29 players completed their rounds on Friday, while 65 others will play on Saturday. The tournament is organised by RNGC under the sponsorship of Jawalakhel Group of Industries.
