Sanjaya Shrestha rolled down 754 pins and entered the second round of the Mali Bowling Championship. Event convenor Nilendra Mali also advanced with 734 pinfalls. In all, 40 bowlers — 20 pros and 20 non-pros — took part in the first round and top 20 entered the second round. Nepal Samach-arpatra’s Niranjan Rajbanshi (585) and Mahesh Acharya (576) of The Himalayan Times also made it to the second round along with two ladies — Maya Gurung (647) and Binu Pradhan (610). Others to qualify were Raj K Ranjit (732), Abhi Rana (724), Raju Shrestha (712), Prakash Humagain (681), Kumar Tamang (677), Sonam Nepali (669), Biswo R Mahato (664), Raj Maharjan (655), Barun Dawadi (649), Deepak Khadka (647), Bijay Shahi (636), Karma Ghale (636), Bharos Khadka (599), and Dhundup Kalsan (592).
