Manang beat BUC; Brigade hold MPC

Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) defeated Boys Union Club (BUC) 2-1, while Mahendra Police Club (MPC) and Brigade Boys Club played a 2-2 draw in the day’s matches of the Nepal Bank Junior (Under-14) League Football Tournament, which has been organised by ANFA under the sponsorship of Nepal Bank Ltd, here today. The win put MMC on top of Pool A with nine points, followed by Jawalakhel Youth Club with eight points.Boys Union Club and Three Star Club have four points each, with Sankata and RCT yet to open their account. NRT lead the Pool B with nine points, followed by Friends and Mahabir with six points each. MPC and BBC both earned one point each, while Kathmandu Club (0) are at bottom of the table. Top two teams each from both pools will advance to the semi-finals.
On Tuesday, MMC took lead through Sujan Limbu in the 62nd minute, and five minutes later Kiran Pratap Rai doubled the tally. Jeetendra Karki scored a consolation goal for Boys Union Club. Sabindra Shrestha of BUC was declared the Man of the match. In an earlier match, Bishal Poudel put BBC ahead in the 18th minute, while SangSang Maharjan scored an equaliser for MPC in the 24th minute. The BBC struck back to take lead through Poudel in the 25th minute, but Birendra Thapa levelled the scores at 2-2 in the 33rd minute. Thapa was later adjudged the Man of the match. Meanwhile, ANFA members Dhirendra Pradhan and Mani Kunwar awarded the man of the match declared players and goalscorers with gift hampers sponsored by Big Mimi and Zoom, products of Chaudhary Group. “This is a step towards motivating youngsters to perform even better and improve the overall standard of Nepali football,” said Chaudhary Group in a release issued today.
