Manang thrash Garifa Sporting Club Kolkata 3-0, meet Three Star in title showdown
KATHMANDU: The Manang Marshyangdi Club thumped visiting Garifa Sporting Club 3-0 and sealed a mouth watering final title showdown with Three Star Club of the ongoing Madan Bhandari Memorial Itahari Gold Club.
Former national team striker Santosh Sahukhala scored a brace and Bimal Rana scored a scintillating goal in second half to demolish visiting Garifa Sporting Club who fielded strong line up including five African recruits.
Despite fielding maximum number of national players Manang was put on back foot by the visiting team in the first half, which ended goalless.
However, after the break Manang came out all guns blazing in the second half and broke the dead lock on the 47th minute. Striker Sahukhala tucked the ball home skillfully after put on through to goal by Sujal Shrestha.
Sahukhala scored his and team's second goal on 67th minute after Garifa succumbed under relentless pressing game by Manang.
Manang's Bimal Rana killed the game in the 78th minute after coolly slotting the ball home in one-on-one situation against the visiting team's goalie.
Sahukhala was later adjudged man of the match for his match winning performance. He collected Rs 10,000.
The final will be played on Saturday.
The winner of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 1.2 million and runner up will receive Rs 0.6 million along with medals and trophies.
