Masakadza ton helps Zimbabwe to crushing win over Kenya

HARARE: Hamilton Masakadza hit 156 to help guide Zimbabwe to a crushing 91-run victory over Kenya in the first one-day international of a five-match series here on Monday.

Zimbabwe reached 313 for four wickets off their alloted 50 overs at the Harare Sports Club, and skittled out the visitors for 222.

Masakadza reached his career-best score off 151 balls, hitting six sixes and 11 fours, and added 97 in eight overs with Brendan Taylor (44 off 27 balls) at the end of the home side's innings.

Mark Vermuelen also chipped in with 49 opening the innings with Masakadza, whose previous best was 102.

Steve Tikolo top-scored for Kenya with 49 but the visitors struggled against the spin of Ray Price, Prosper Utseya and Graeme Cremer, who netted five wickets between them.

Utseya and debutant Kyle Jarvis each bagged 3-36 as the Kenyans lost regular wickets as Zimbabwe stifled any attack.
