Ministry, agitators reach agreement
KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Youth and Sports Ministry and the agitating temporary employees of the National Sports Council (NSC) on Wednesday ended in a positive note.
Held at the National Table Tennis Training Centre in Lainchaur,
the ministry representatives agreed to extend
the tenure of all the temporary employees until the new NSC board, which is yet to be formed, takes the final decision on the matter.
The agitators have agreed to reopen the NSC they have been padlocking since last week. Among the other notable agreement, the ministry will direct the NSC to take the agitators’ other demands positively.
Joint Secretary of
the Youth and Sports Ministry Gorakh Bahadur Sing led the three-member talk-team
on behalf of the ministry. The acting member
NSC secretary Bishnu Prasad Lamshal and chief of the NSC administration department Kul Bahadur Thapa were the other members.
Gopal Prasad Mali
led the agitators’ five-member talk-team.
Kajiman Shrestha, Kabi Raj Khadki, Rajendra Subedi, Raj Shrestha, Purushottam Acharya and Surat Bahadur Khatri were the other members of the talk-team.
