MMC, RCT enter quarter-finals

Pokhara, April 30:

Carlsberg Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) and Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) made it to the quarter-finals of the first Pepsi Seven-A-Side International Football Tournament here today. MMC humiliated Tata Steel India 7-0 and RCT sneaked past the Indian Seven-Aside Team 1-0.

Raj Kumar Ghising and Sunil Subedi each scored a brace while Khum Gurung, Sanjay Gurung and Sachin Shrestha added one goal apiece for MMC. Raj Kumar opened the goalscoring spree early in the third minute and went on to add his second in the 31st minute. In between

Subedi scored two goals in the sixth and 22nd minute. Khum scored his team’s fourth goal in the 23rd minute before Sanjay made it 6-0 in the 42nd minute. Sachin completed the rout scoring yet another goal in the 46th minute.

In another match, Dipesh Thapa Magar scored the winner for RCT in the 14th minute. The game was stopped for five minutes after Sukh Jung Rana was sent off for manhandling the opponent player in the 35th minute. RCT goalie Dilip Rajak, who was booked during the protest, was adjudged man-of-the-match.
