Shuttlers set to leave for India

KATHMANDU: A nine-member Nepal Badminton Association (NBA) team is leaving for New Delhi on Sunday to participate in the Badminton Asia Championships scheduled for April 12-18. Bikash Shrestha, Ram Singh Chaudhary and Indra Mahata, Sahadev Khadka, Puja Shrestha and Sujana Shrestha will compete in the $150,000 event organised by Badminton Asia Confederation. The shuttlers are set to compete in men's and women's singles, doubles and mixed doubles events. The players will be accompanied by coach Prakash Uday, manager Binda Simkhada and team leader Narayan Bahadur Chhetri. National Sports Council Member Secretary Hari Babu Chaudhary bade farewell to the team on Saturday.

Joseph team champions

KATHMANDU: Joseph Dojo of Kathmandu won the team championship of the fourth Wadokai Karate and Kickboxing Tournament in Sindhupalchowk on Saturday. Joseph won five gold, seven silver and eight bronze medals to finished top of the medal tally while Mahankal Dojo ended up second with four gold, five silver and three bronze medals. Gaushala Dojo stood third with three gold, two silver and one bronze medals. Chhayani Maharjan of Man Singh Dojo and Pawan Rana Magar of Sindhupalchowk were adjudged the best female and male players respectively.
