NBA picks 12 shuttlers

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Badminton Association (NBA) on Tuesday selected 12 shuttlers -- six each in men and women's event -- for the 11th South Asian Games slated for January 29 to February 9 in Dhaka next year.

After a four-day selection tournament, Bikash Shrestha collected nine points to secure the men's berth along with Ratnajit Tamang (9pts), Pankaj Chand (7pts), Kishore Rana, Sajan Krishna Tamrakar and Bishal Pradhan (6pts). Saradevi Tamang (7pts), Sujana Shrestha (6pts), Puja Shrestha (5pts), Nangsala Devi Tamang (4pts), Punam Gurung (3pts) and Sabina Panthi (2pts) were selected for the women's events. Among the shuttlers, Sara, Nangsala and Ratnajit belong to the same family. The NBA organised a round robin league tournament among the 11 men and eight women participants at the National Sports Council covered hall.
