NCC, Thames lift titles

Nepal Commerce Campus (NCC) won the Thames Inter-college BBA Cup, while hosts Thames clinched the BIM Cup title here today.

In the finals played at the Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya grounds, NCC defeated Mahendra Morang Adarsha Multiple Campus (MMAMC) by two runs in super over, while Thames defeated KCMIT by six runs.

In the finals of BBA section, MMAMC were bowled out for 110 runs in 19.4 overs, while NCC reached 110-9 in 20 overs. In super over, NCC scored 11 runs losing two wickets before restricting MMAMC to nine runs.

Earlier, Raju Sharma top scored for MMAMC with 30 off 16 balls, while Manish Basnet scored 19 off 35 balls. Sandesh Shrestha claimed three wickets for NCC, while Sanjay Chand took two wickets. Ashish Bist, Yadav Banjade and Suraj KC grabbed a wicket apiece.

In reply, Biplav Basnet’s unbeaten half century helped the team to tie the scores. Basnet scored 50 off 54 balls, while Ashish Bist scored 14 off 16 balls. Manish Basnet, Sudip Niraula and Niraj Rajbansi claimed two wickets apiece for MMAMC, while Rokesh Khanal and Amit Kumar Yadav grabbed a wicket each.

In another final, Thames scored 131-8 in 20 overs and packed KCMIT for 125 runs in 19.5 overs. Prashan Budhathoki top scored for Thames with 28 off 19 balls, while Sudham Pokhrel remained unbeaten on 25 off 22 balls. Birat Neupane claimed three wickets for KCMIT, while Srijan Chand and Bishwo Bhurtel grabbed two wickets.

In reply, KCMIT made a mediocre start but they failed to keep the momentum going and were seven runs short of the target.

Opener Binaya Karki top scored for KCMIT with 52 off 55 balls that included three fours, while Suraj Agrahari and Rohit Shrestha scored 13 runs each.  Sanuj Wosti claimed three wickets for Thames, while Nikesh Shrestha took two wickets, Srijal Prasai and Aayush Kumar Das took a wicket apiece.
