KATHMANDU: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and Nepal Television (NTV) made winning starts in men’s volleyball on the inaugural day of the first Inter-Enterprises Sports Tournament here today.

The NEA defeated Nepal Bank in straight sets 25-16, 25-13 and NTV overcame Press Council 25-15, 25-17. In other matches of the day, Udaypur Cement Factory saw off Sanskritik Sansthan 25-11, 25-17, NEA ‘Blue’ beat Nepal Academy 25-14, 24-8, Nepal Airlines Corporation dispatched Karmachari Sanchaya Kosh 25-10, 25-11 and Janak Sikchhya Samagri Kendra outplayed National Sports Council 25-19, 25-13.

The six-day event features volleyball, Chess, badminton and table tennis tournaments. In all, 18 government agencies are taking part in the event organised by Public Enterprises Sports Development Association, Nepal. The estimated budget of the event is Rs 1 million. Earlier, Minister for Youth and Sports Ganesh Nepali inaugurated the tournament.
