Kathmandu, June 20
Tribhuvan Army Club today inked sponsorship deal of Rs 7.5 million with Hansraj Hulaschand and Co Pvt Ltd, the authorised distributor of Bajaj motorbikes and manufacturer of Pulsar motorbike, for men and women football teams.
Managing Director of Hansraj Hulaschand and Co Pvt Ltd Shekhar Golchha and Maj Gen Dev Kumar Subedi displayed the new kits of the club after Deputy General Manager of Hansraj Hulaschand and Co Pvt Ltd Yogain Gurung and Subedi signed the Memorandum of Understanding amidst a programme.
As per the agreement, Hansraj Hulaschand and Co Pvt Ltd will provide the TAC with sports kits worth Rs 2.5 million every year. In return, the TAC will use Bajaj Pulsar’s logo on players’ jersey.
Golchha, who is also the Senior Vice-president of FNCCI, said he was delighted with the deal. “We are honoured to be a part of the leading football club of the country. Tribhuvan Army Club teams are the one of the best sides in domestic football and we are glad to become a sponsor,” said Golchha.
He said the agreement was not just a business deal. “We have been associated with sports for a long time and we did not see this deal from business perspectives. TAC athletes have showed their talents in national and international arenas and the whole country is proud of them. Our association with the TAC is beyond business,” he added. Golchha also said his company would provide the TAC players with best kits. “We believe in quality and we will ensure that the best players of the country get the best kits,” he added.
Maj Gen Subedi said the deal was all about equipping the players with best sports kits. “The TAC athletes have excelled in national and international tournaments and they have made us proud,” said Subedi. “We will not have cash transactions with the sponsors. We will give them the list of requirements for the players and they will deliver the sports gears worth Rs 2.5 million every year,” he said. “I think that will cater the needs of our players.”
NA Spokesperson Brig Gen Jhankar Bahadur Kadayat said the deal would boost the morale of the TAC footballers in the upcoming events. “We are thankful to Hansraj Hulashchand and Co Pvt Ltd and its MD Shekhar Golchha for the generous support to our teams. We believe it will boost the morale of out players and they will do even better in the tournaments,” he added.
TAC men’s team won four titles out of the 10 finals played last season under coach Nabin Neupane. The former national team member said his side was ready for the upcoming league although the All Nepal Football Association is yet to announce the dates. “We have a full squad after we picked up eight players from the Lalit Memorial U-18 Football Championship and we are ready for upcoming tournaments including the ‘A’ division league,” added Neupane.
