Nepal, Bangladesh set final date

Kathmandu, December 15

Nepal and Bangladesh advanced to the final of the first International Wheelchair Cricket Tournament here at the TU Stadium today.

Nepal, who had defeated Bangladesh by nine wickets on Thursday, saw off India by 65 runs and topped the three-team competition, while Bangladesh thrashed India by six wickets in day’s first match.

Nepal posted 151-4 in their allotted 14 overs before restricting India to 86-7.

Player-of-the-match Nabin Lama scored a quick fire 42-ball 50 not out hitting six boundaries, while Bipin Paudyal, who hit five fours, remained unbeaten on 15-ball 25. Raju Gurung hit 23  off just 14 balls that included four boundaries. India’s Lalit Pathak (2-26) and Amit Kumar Singh (2-29) shared four wickets between them.

In reply, India’s Saurabh Mallik cracked 15-ball 25 hitting five boundaries, while Sunil Kumar Patel hit 13 off 18 balls that included two fours.

Yam Bahadur Shrestha (2-13) and Bishnu Adhikari (2-19) shared four wickets between them, while Raju Katwal claimed one for the hosts.

Earlier, India scored 162-7 in 20 overs against Bangladesh, who completed target in 17.1 overs with six wickets in hands. India’s opener Saurabh Mallik netted a quick fire 47-ball 62 cracking 11 boundaries, while Lalit Pathak added 28-ball 37 that included eight fours.

Bangladesh’s Mohammad Ripon Uddin took two wickets, while Mohammad Rajon, Morshed Alam and Ahadul Islam pocketed one wicket each.

In reply, Bangladesh achieved the target riding on Mohammad Mohasin’s unbeaten 43 off 45 balls that included six boundaries. Similarly, Mohammad Methu added 23 off 25 balls hitting three fours. Indian bowlers also conceded 65 extra runs.
