Nepal Basketball Association picks 14-member squad
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Basketball Association (NeBA) on Wednesday selected 14 players for the final closed camp training of the 11th South Asian Games slated for January 29 to February 9 next year.
The players were picked up after a month-long closed camp of 18 players at the National Sports Council (NSC) covered hall.
The final 14 includes, Bipendra Maharjan, Manoj Sherchan, Rajeev Joshi, Binod Shrestha, Rabindra Maharjan, Binod Maharjan, Bijaya Khatri, Yuktaram Bhakta Mathema, Amir Ghale, Sadish Pradhan, Bikram Joshi, Ajay Manandhar, Sanjaya Byanjankar and Karma Gurung.
The NeBA added two extra players to that of the assigned quota of 12. The SA Games participating squad of 12 members will be announced after a six-week closed camp in Kathmandu. “We decided to announce the final squad with a month to go for the regional meet. We included two more players for the final camp so that it could be easy for us if any of the players sustain injury or opts out of the event on personal reasons,” said the national team coach Dinesh Nakarmi. The NSC will look after the expenses of 12 players during the final closed camp while NeBA will be bear the expenses of the two additional players, said the NeBA.
