Nepal dominate Singapore on Day II

Kathmandu, November 11:

A fiery spell from skipper Binod Das and destructive half centuries from Mehboob Alam and Paras Khadka put Nepal in commanding position on the second day of the ACC Premier League match against Singapore here at the TU Stadium today.

Resuming their first innings at 47/4, Singapore were all out for 90 runs, thanks to seamer Das who took 5-24 in 12 overs.

Alam, Paras, Shakti Gauchan and Raj Kumar Pradhan took one wicket each.

Nepal, who declared their first innings on 313/9, came to bat again without asking the visitors to follow-on and declared the second innings at 178/6 in 37.3 overs.

Opener Paresh Lohani, who hit a century in the first innings, scored 37, while hard-hitter Alam scored his second half century of the match with 51 off 53 balls including six fours and a six. Khadka, who also scored half century in the first innings, hit six fours and three sixes in his 45-ball 56.

Set 402 to win, Singapore finished the day at 116/3. Skipper Chaminda Ruwan was playing at 49 and Buddhika Mendes on 10 when bad lights brought an early end. Alam, Das and Basanta Regmi took one wicket each.

At the end of the second day, Nepal accumulated 16 points while Singapore earned 11 points.
