Nepal enter final

KATHMANDU: Nepali youth football team thrashed Bhutan 6-0 and advanced to the final of the SAFF U-15 Championship at the Kalyani Stadium in West Bengal, India on Thursday.

Skipper Pradip Lamsal and Nirajan Khatri scored a brace each, while Ashim Rai and Sugan Jimee netted one each for Nepal.

With their third win in four matches, Nepal accumulated nine points and made it to the final as runners-up behind hosts India, who thrashed Bangladesh 4-0 for their fourth consecutive victory.

Nepal began the campaign with a 6-0 defeat at the hands of India before beating Sri Lanka 2-0 in the second match. Nepal then registered a 4-1 victory over Bangladesh to revive their final hopes.

Nepal and India will play the championship match at the same venue on Saturday.

This is the third time Nepal made it to the final in six appearances but they are yet to win the title.
