Nepal eves off to Thailand for ACC tournament

KATHMANDU: Nepal's Women National Cricket team today left for Thailand to participate in the Asia Cup Cricket Championship.

National Sports Council member secretary Keshav Kumar Bista bid farewell to the team.

Rubina Chhetry, who would be joining the Melbourne Renegades in Women's Big Bash League in Australia for 2016-17 season, will lead Nepal in the tournament.

Nepal are pitted against the test playing nations including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Nepal will kick-off their tournament against Pakistan on Saturday.

Similarly,Nepal will play against the Asian heavy weight Sri Lanka on November 28 and Bangladesh the following day before locking horns with the hosts on December 1.

Nepal play their final group game against the tournament favorites India on December 2.

Earlier, Nepal had earned the berth in the Asia Cup by finishing second in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier Asia Region held in Hong Kong.

The championship is organised by the Asian Cricket Council and will begin from November 26.
