Police through, JYC hammer Lumbini
Lalitpur, June 5
Nepal Police Club defeated CMG Club Sankata 2-1 and advanced to the quarter-finals of the Lalit Memorial U-18 Football Championship at the ANFA Complex grounds today.
NPC finished as Group B winners after accumulating seven points from three matches. Sankata, who had already advanced to the last eight with two wins, finished as group runners-up with six points. Morang FC and Brigade Boys Club were eliminated from the group stage.
Rejin Subba and Rewesh Maskey scored one goal each for NPC, while Dipesh Ale Magar netted the consolation goal for Sankata. Subba put NPC ahead in the 10th minute and Maskey doubled the advantage in 29th minute. Sankata’s Magar cut the deficit in the 47th minute.
In Group C match, Royal Treasurer Jawalakhel Youth Club thrashed Jagadamba Lumbini FC 4-0. Sushant Chaudhary completed a hat-trick, while Amit Bhomjan Lama scored one for JYC. Lama opened the scoring for Jawalakhel in 14th minute before Chaudhary netted in 26th, 75th and injury time to complete the rout.
The result meant JYC and Jagadamba Lumbini FC are tied on six points, while Himalayan Sherpa Club have three points. The match between Himalayan Sherpa and New Road Team will decided the two teams for the knock out stage.
On Tuesday, Saraswoti Youth Club will take on Chyasal Youth Club, while Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club will play against Far-west FC.
