NPC, Storm Brand advance to last four

Kathmandu, March 31

Nepal Police Club, Storm Brand Activation, Tip Top and Nagarjuna Cricket Club entered the semi-finals of the Khukuri-Devibas Super Eight Cricket Tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

NPC defeated KBH Nepal by 58 runs and recorded a 25-run win against Nagarjuna to make it to the last four. Put into bat first, NPC scored 128-3 in their allotted seven overs riding on Manjeet Shrestha’s unbeaten 38 and Kushal Bhurtel’s unbeaten 36. In reply, KBH managed 70-7. Bishwas Shrestha top scored with 24 runs.

In another match, NPC scored 80-5 after Prem Tamang scored 25 runs and Siddhant Lohani contributed 21. In reply, Nagarjuna scored 55-2 despite Avinash Karna scoring 22. Despite the defeat, Nagarjuna made it to the last four.

Likewise, Storm Brand saw off DAV by seven wickets. Ashutosh Ghiraiya’s 26 runs helped DAV post 68-4 before Storm Brand raced to 72-1 in 6.4 overs. Storm Brand returned to defeat Nepal Sports Journalists Forum by eight wickets. Batting first, NSJF posted 49-6 riding on Avash Ghimire’s 23 runs before Storm Brand raced to 51 without losing a wicket in 2.3 overs. Sanjay Shrestha remained unbeaten on 28 runs.

Similarly, Tip Top saw off DAV by three runs. Opting to bat first, Tip Top scored 93-4 with Sonu Tamang scoring 37 and Prakash Bista contributing 23. In reply, DAV fell four runs short, reaching 90-3. Jitendra Thakuri and Himanshu Dutta scored 35 runs each for DAV. Likewise, Tikapur defeated MIS by eight wickets and DAV defeated VM Warriors by 15 runs in other matches. The semi-final and final matches are slated for Saturday.
